There's no better place to ride mountain bikes than in the mountains, and hardly better scenic roads to cruise on a road bike! We have some great recommendations for where to go biking and the rental fleet to get you there! For families and folks looking for a mellow, relaxing ride, the Lake Estes bike path is located about 150 feet from our rental department. Enjoy over 8 miles of bike paths right out our door!

grit freedom chair

With a commitment to provide recreational opportunities to all, EPMS along with Rocky Mountain National Park and Rocky Mountain Conservancy proudly offer access to the Grit Freedom Chair. This all-terrain wheel chair provides visitors with hiking mobility assistance for the Estes Valley.

 

COSTS:

There is no cost for using the chair. The Grit Freedom Chair was donated by the Sam Schneider Legacy Foundation in memory of Sam Schneider and his love of outdoor adventures.

USER RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • We recommend that you plan to hike with a companion.

  • Complete necessary waiver forms

  • Be certain trash and debris is cleaned from the chair

  • Return the Grit Freedom Chair in the condition it was taken out, minus normal wear and tear 
     

SAFETY:
As with all trail users, we suggest that Grit Freedom Chair users and those accompanying them bring: water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, necessary medication and medical equipment, cell phone, hat, seat cushion, weather appropriate clothing – including an extra layer for changing weather. Please note that you will be on trails without immediate access to backup medication and medical equipment.

TRANSFER ASSISTANCE:
Users should bring any transfer items they typically use. Transfer slide boards are not currently available. If the user requires physical assistance with transferring, a companion must assist.
